Anita Fields
Cultural Affiliation:Osage/Muscogee
Born in Hominy, Oklahoma in 1951. Anita Fields is a member of the Osage Nation and a descendant of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. Fields attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she was exposed to different media including sculpture and clay. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Oklahoma State University. A Tulsa Artist Fellow since 2017, Fields was recently honored as a 2021 NEA National Heritage Fellow for her contributions to our nation’s traditional arts heritage. Her work has been exhibited in numerous institutions, including the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
